Indianapolis Hibernian Tournament
Sunday, August 1, 2010

Indianapolis played host to the annual Hibernian Invitational Tournament.  The Cusack's, winners of the 2009 tournament, competed this year against two teams from Indy, St. Louis, and Akron.  After a sluggish start, the Cusacks came alive.  But, it was too little too late.  We split on the day, losing the first two matches and winning the last two.

Congratulations to tournament winners, Indianapolis.  The Cusack's would like to thank the Indy H.C. for hosting the tournament and to all teams on a good day of games.

St. Louis Festival of Gaelic Sports
Friday, July 9, 2010

The Cusack's travel to St. Louis this weekend to participate in the the St. Louis Gaelic Sport Festival.  The event was a huge success last year at the yanks from Chicago made it to the final.  However, the heat, exhaustion and plentiful St. Louis club were too much to overcome.

This year the MCHC plan on returning to Chicago with the first hardware of the season.

Cusack's Overcome Indianapolis
Friday, July 2, 2010

The Cusack's hosted Indianapolis at Gaelic Park Saturday last.  It was a beautiful day for hurling and the two clubs put on an entertaining display for the crowd.  The program called for two matches.  The first match saw more of both clubs' regulars.  The second match was mainly contested between more of the newcomers.

In the first match, Indianapolis struck first lodging three quick points from distance.  The Cusack's took advantage of playing into the wind in the first half by finding the back of the net from a score attempt that fell short.  The Cusack's would continue to pressure the Indianapolis defense find the net again before the half and taking advantage of each placed ball.  Indianapolis would continue their accuracy but trailed at the half.

The second half was much the same as the first.  Both clubs put in tremendous effort but at the final whistle the Cusack's prevailed.

The second match was a great success.  Each club was able to get all their players plenty of playing time and it was certainly a learning experience.  The talent and drive displayed at the weekend's games are telling of bright futures for both clubs.
